In this class you will learn the ancient technique of Viking Knit which was created by the Vikings in Scandinavia. Fine silver wire was created by melting down silver coins. Chains are created by looping wires together on a dowel, then pulling the pieces through a draw plate to compress and reduce the size of the woven chain. You will create a bracelet out of copper, silver plate, or brass plate wire. You will also learn how to attach a toggle clasp to your finished bracelet. You may not finish your bracelet in class but will leave with the skills to complete your pieces at home.

    clasps

    dowels

Beaded Wheels are a fun beaded circle made up of 4mm round stones and size 11 seed beads.  It's easy to make and has a "wow" look that impresses everyone who sees them.  The seed beads can either be the same color as the 4mm stone beads for a uniform look or they can contrast to the stone beads for a bolder look.  A wheel can easily be put on a chain or cord to wear as a necklace.  A few wheels can be sewn together to make a bracelet, or a French wire can be added to two wheels to make a pair of earrings

    Beaders signing up should bring:

    beading mat

    beading needles

    favorite thread

    usual supplies like scissors
